As quality providers of energy consultation services, Evergreen Living can offer:
– Energy Performance Certificates for new-builds
– SAP & SBEM
– Air Pressure, Acoustic and Ventilation Testing
Our particular areas of specialism, though, are:
– For the conversion of existing buildings – often commercial – into residential dwellings
– For whole house SAP calculations for highly-glazed extensions that are not separated from the dwelling – not a conservatory, for example, that can be closed off with external quality doors from the main dwelling. Projects like these need to prove compliance with Part L1b of building regulations
Energy Performance Certificates
Rated from A to G – with A being the most efficient – an EPC is used to grade the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings.
An Energy Performance Certificate is needed in the following situations, otherwise penalties may be imposed:
– Whenever a new property is built
– Whenever a property is either sold or rented
Please note that it is the responsibility of building control – whether private or local authority – to ensure that all legal documentation is in place. But if you are in any doubt about your obligations, please don’t hesitate to contact us for guidance.
SAP & SBEM
Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) and Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) measure how buildings – residential and commercial – perform against carbon emission targets.
The following parameters are included in the measurements and compliance – with the appropriate regulation – is mandatory:
– Energy use per unit of floor area
– Fuel-cost-based energy efficiency rating
– CO2 emissions
Please note that it is the responsibility of building control – whether private or local authority – to ensure that all legal documentation is in place. If you are in any doubt about your obligations, please don’t hesitate to contact us for guidance.
Air Pressure, Acoustic and Ventilation Testing
Air Pressure testing can help to ensure that the energy being used – to heat a building – is not being wasted, by escaping. The impact of any energy wastage, on the building’s CO2 rating, can then be assessed.
Acoustic Testing – or Sound Insulation Measurement – can help to ensure compliance with building regulations around sound performance between dwellings. And Ventilation Testing can help to ensure compliance with building regulations around air flow rate.
Please note that it is the responsibility of building control – whether private or local authority – to ensure that all legal documentation is in place. If you are in any doubt about your obligations, please don’t hesitate to contact us for guidance.
